Services for Women, Children and Young People

The Immigrant Women’s Support Service (IWSS) provides specialised domestic, family and sexual violence support for women, children and young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. For nearly 40 years, we have delivered trauma informed, culturally grounded and feminist support to women and children experiencing violence, migration stress and systemic barriers.

How we support you

We provide support face to face or over the phone. A practitioner will talk with you about your needs and help you plan the right support.

  • Crisis Support

    If you are in danger outside office hours, call 000 or DVConnect on 1800 811 811.


    Support may include:
    • Assistance to leave a violent situation
    • Support after a recent sexual assault or when past trauma is triggered
    • Referral to safe accommodation
    • Support accessing legal advice
    • Guidance on reporting sexual assault
    • Support to navigate the court system
    • Assistance with health, housing and financial needs
    • Safety planning and early intervention support

  • Ongoing Case Management

    We help you navigate multiple systems over a sustained period, depending on your needs and goals.


  • Counselling / Advocacy

    Our practitioners provide a safe space to:

    • Talk about experiences and feelings
    • Explore options and plan for safety
    • Strengthen emotional wellbeing
    • Access other services when needed

  • Children’s Support Services

    We support parents and caregivers to:

    • Keep children safe
    • Understand the impacts of violence on children
    • Access children’s services and supports
    • Report child sexual abuse and connect with specialist services
