Immigrant Women's Support Service

Professional Development and Training Request

Working with culturally and linguistically diverse (CaLD) communities, particularly women from non-English speaking backgrounds (NESB), requires workers to engage in continuing professional development to ensure the development of ethical, sensitive and responsive practices.

IWSS can support staff development and provide training to meet the specific needs of your organisation.

Facilitators

IWSS is a specialist domestic violence and sexual assault service that provides a free and confidential support service to women and their children from NESB who have experienced or are experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence. IWSS has provided support services to women from NESB for over twenty years and has actively engaged in raising community awareness of the nature of domestic and sexual violence and their impact on women from NESB.

Facilitators of this training have demonstrable experience in cross cultural practice and feminist support work. They will share some of the knowledge, skills, and practice wisdom gained over many years of service delivery to women in Queensland.

IWSS training supports reflective practice in working with issues of violence in CALD communities. Facilitators use multiple learning tools to engage participants in critical analysis, skill development and ongoing reflection on their work in responding to issues of violence.
